The Hand of Providence
A July 4th celebration tracing the hand of God through America's founding, from the Pilgrims and the signers to the flag over Fort McHenry.
America turned 250 this week, and Dana was in no mood to apologize for it. He called the morning a celebration, a pep rally more than a sermon, then walked back through the older stories himself, the one Pilgrim ship that outlasted the storm that sank all the rest, the signers who put their names to the Declaration knowing it could cost them everything they owned. What’s been taught here before is that holding onto the past is one of the quiet ways we come to see the faithfulness of God.
So line those moments up. The ship that should have gone down and didn’t, the flag still flying over Fort McHenry when the smoke cleared at dawn, are you looking at the hand of providence, or only coincidence?
