When Not To Rescue
Scott teaches that taking up the cross means joyfully bearing another's suffering, which sometimes means staying in the grief with them instead of rushing to fix it.
Scott opened with a phone call nobody wants to take. A young man, wounded and angry, saying his wife no longer loved him and wanted a divorce. And Scott, sitting there on the other end of the line, decided he was not there to fix him. This was day twelve of the disciple-making boot camp, and he took up the second part of Yeshua’s template, taking up your cross, then handed us a definition that turns most of our instincts upside down.
